The Seaside Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey
The Seaside Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey Nintendo/Player.One

The Seaside Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey features beaches and an expansive ocean. This is one of the worlds where the area is under siege from a boss, and Mario needs to dispatch him as soon as possible.

There are 71 Power Moons in total in the Seaside Kingdom. 52 are available before you complete the entire story. If you’re looking for the location and strategy to obtain them all, you’ve come to the right place.

To find the Power Moon locations for the other levels in Super Mario Odyssey, check out our other Kingdom Guides:

Power Moon #1 - The Stone Pillar Seal

When you first land in the Seaside Kingdom, you’ll notice four clogged fountains. The first button to unclog a fountain is on a tall island not too far from the Odyssey. Capture a Gushen to jet upwards and towards the Power Moon.

Power Moon #2 - The Lighthouse Seal

The second seal is on top of the Lighthouse, which you can’t get to by traditional means. You’ll need to find a group of Bubblainians that tell you where to find this path to the Lighthouse. Dive underwater and enter the Underground Tunnel, then capture a Cheep Cheep and swim to the end of the tunnel. You will end up at the top of the Lighthouse, so grab the Power Moon.

Power Moon #3 - The Hot Spring Seal

Make your way across the ocean to find an area with a lot of lava. This is the Hot Spring, and you’ll need to capture a Gushen to extinguish the lava. Shake the controller to unleash a 360-degree spin of water that will put out the lava, revealing a pool. Go in the pool to get your Power Moon.

Power Moon #4 - The Seal Above the Canyon

The last fountain is at the Rolling Canyon, a large crevasse in the southeastern part of the kingdom. Make your way up the canyon, avoiding the rolling shells along the way. Reach the end of the tunnel to get your Power Moon hidden among wooden crates.

Power Moon #5 - The Glass is Half Full

After unblocking all four fountains, you’ll face off against the boss of the area for three Power Moons. You’ll need to capture a Gushen and cool off the lava on its head, then wait till the boss is still to jump out of the capture and onto the head of the boss. Keep doing this until the boss is defeated.

Power Moon #6 - On the Cliff Overlooking the Beach

Behind the Odyssey there’s a cliff that holds a Power Moon but it’s too high to reach by normal means. Capture a Gushen and jet up to the cliff and obtain your Power Moon.

Power Moon #7 - Ride the Jetstream

Capture a Gushen and head to the small cave near a rock wall to the south. Jet upwards into the cavern and make your way through the catacombs until you reach the Power Moon hovering above.

Power Moon #8 - Ocean-Bottom Maze: Treasure

Along the seafloor, four pipes in a square lead to an 8-bit map between the Lighthouse and the Glass Palace. Enter through one of the bottom pipes then head to the bottom-left corner of the maze. Jump to the left to reveal hidden blocks, which will catch Mario when he drops from the top half of the maze later on.

Power Moon #9 - Ocean-Bottom Maze: Hidden Room

This Power Moon is a secret in the 8-bit maze from #8. To get it, you’ll need to enter from the bottom-right pipe and look for a red Koopa Troopa. Jump on it to make it retract into its shell, then kick it over the edge so it breaks a brick block, revealing a passageway that’s crouch height. Dash, and just before reaching the passageway, crouch to slide through and reach a Power Moon.

Power Moon #10 - Underwater Highway Tunnel

Near the Lighthouse, there is a square passage under a wave. You’ll see three Cheep Cheeps guarding an entrance, go through it and you’ll see brick blocks on the ocean floor. Ground pound to reveal a Power Moon.

Power Moon #11 - Shh! It’s a Shortcut!

Under the sandbar island on your way to the Hot Spring, you’ll find a tunnel that leads beneath the island. A Power Moon can be found halfway through.

Power Moon #12 - Gap in the Ocean Trench

Capture a Cheep Cheep and explore the large trench (you can’t miss it). Explore the rock wall until you find an entrance with a gap that leads to coin rings and a Power Moon.

Power Moon #13 - Slip Through the Nesting Spot

Explore the ocean floor towards the northeast area of the Seaside Kingdom to find a Maw-Ray nesting zone. There’s a spot where a Maw-Ray comes out of its den to attack, but can only reach a certain point. When it begins to retract, follow it inside the den to the side passage where a Power Moon awaits.

Power Moon #14 - Merci, Dorrie!

Find Dorrie (the purple swimming whale-thing wearing a top hat) and swim underneath it. A Power Moon is waiting.

Power Moon #15 - Bonjour, Dorrie!

In the Seaside Kingdom there are two Dorries, one is Purple (see #14) and the other is yellow. Capture a Gushen and jet above the head of the yellow Dorrie to find a Power Moon.

Power Moon #16 - Under a Dangerous Ceiling

There’s a sandbar island in the northeast sea where you can swim underneath it. This area has lots of Komboo sprouting from the top of this island so get rid of them before you ground pound the glowing lump to get your Power Moon.

Power Moon #17 - What the Waves Left Behind

Toward the east there are rocky sandbars you can climb on. Remove the seaweed from a circular pool. Ground pound this area to find the Power Moon.

Power Moon #18 - The Back Canyon: Excavate!

Along thecliff wall, you’ll see small ledges covered in Mini Goombas. Capture a Gusher and jet your way up the ledges until you get to Moonsnakes covering a glowing spot. Ground pound the area (not the Moonsnake) to get the Power Moon underneath.

Power Moon #19 - Bubblaine Northern Reaches

On the ocean floor, find a large hill is surrounded by three smaller ones. One of the bumps is glowing, so ground pound to bring out a bunch of Komboos. Another mound glows, so you’ll have to go to that hill and ground pound again to reveal more enemies. Defeat these enemies while ground pounding the glowing spots until the largest hill glows. Ground pound the large hill to release a Power Moon.

Power Moon #20 - Wriggling on the Sandy Bottom

Near the Lighthouse, enter a red door on the bottom of the sea. In this area, something's wriggling under the floor. You’ll need to slow it down with hat tosses so you can ground pound it, revealing a Power Moon.

Power Moon #21 - Glass Palace Treasure Chest

Capture a Cheep Cheep and go to the north side of the ocean to explore beneath the Glass Palace. There’s a passage underneath filled with Komboos. You’ll need to get through them until you find a gap on the left wall of the passageway with a treasure chest and Power Moon inside.

Power Moon #22 - Treasure Trap Hidden in the Inlet

In the southwest area of the Kingdom, there’s an area where the sea channels through the beach and under a stone wall. Swim underwater to the seafloor and enter the inlet where a hidden cave is. Four treasure chests are positioned in a diamond and must be opened in a certain order. Open the chest closest to the wall in the back of the cave, then to the left, and then right. The fourth chest will open, which holds a Power Moon.

Power Moon #23 - Sea Gardening: Inlet Seed

On the roof of the resort are four pots to plant seeds. The first can be found in an inlet not far from the resort on the shallow seafloor. Grab the seed and plant it, using a Gushen to water it.

Power Moon #24 - Sea Gardening: Canyon Seed

This seed is near the ledges by the Rolling Canyon checkpoint flag. Climb the ledges until you find the seed.

Power Moon #25 - Sea Gardening: Hot-Spring Seed

At Hot Spring Island, there’s a seed near some Gushen. This area is the furthest from the resort, so Mario will have to lug the seed while swimming to get it into the pot.

Power Moon #26 - Sea Gardening: Ocean Trench Seed

The final seed is near the Sphynx statue. Warp to Ocean Trench East or West, then swim to the middle to find a seed at the bottom on a pedestal. Grab the seed and swim to the resort, but be mindful of Mario’s oxygen.

Power Moon #27 - Seaside Kingdom Timer Challenge 1

To the south of Hot Spring Island, find a crack in the ocean floor with a bright red button. Swim down to it to find a pipe that leads to an 8-bit level right next to the button. Ground pound the red button to reveal blocks inside the 8-bit level. Quickly enter the pipe and use the blocks to get to the top of the platforms and the Power Moon.

In the same area as #43, make your way over the platforms until you reach a point where no pulse beams or launchers are present. REVIEW SUMMARY
Super Mario Odyssey
10.0
Charming, Fun And The Best Game Of 2017
The Nintendo Switch title has slick controls, amazing visuals and a charm (there’s that word again) that I haven't come across before. The story is simple but supplemented with a large cast of new characters and worlds that expand the Mario Universe in a way that, hopefully, Nintendo can expand on for years to come. It’s accessible for younger players and challenging enough for veterans.
  • Visually pleasing
  • Great Story
  • Controls are amazing and uses Switch motion controls the best
  • Great new characters and environments
  • Could be more difficult
  • Camera angles can get annoying
