"Palworld" players on the PS5 have been struck by a critical bug that corrupts save files, but a permanent fix has finally arrived with Patch 0.6.2 on July 10.
Developer Pocketpair confirmed that the issue stemmed from the game generating too many save files. This caused system errors CE-100022-5 and CE-100096-6, resulting in lost progress.
What Caused PS5 Save File Corruption
According to Pocketpair, save file corruption occurs when players have too many save data entries stored on their console. This triggers internal system errors on the PlayStation 5, which in turn corrupts any save data created at that time.

Thank you for your continued support of Palworld.
We would like to inform our players about the cause and solution for the recent PS5 data loss issue.
■ The Bug
As a result of our ongoing investigation, we have identified the...
If either of the above-mentioned errors has appeared, your save data is likely affected and, unfortunately, cannot be recovered. To prevent the bug from recurring, Pocketpair recommends deleting all corrupted save files.
What's New in the "Palworld" Patch 0.6.2
To address the data loss issue and prevent future occurrences, Patch 0.6.2 introduces two key improvements.
First, the number of save files will now be capped at a maximum of 10 per player on PS5.
Second, the patch enhances save system stability to ensure a more reliable and bug-free saving experience moving forward.
Important notice: If you currently have more than 10 save files, the patch will not automatically delete the excess. You'll need to manually remove the additional files before continuing.
What to Do If You're Affected by the "Palworld" Bug
If you've experienced the error codes mentioned above, you must delete all of your existing "Palworld" save data on your PS5. Failing to do so may cause the issue to persist, even after applying the patch, Siliconera warned.
Players who haven't seen either error can continue using their current save files. However, it's still a good idea to limit the number of save files to avoid reaching the system limit.
In May, Pocketpair removed the gliding feature because of the Nintendo lawsuit. While it's already out of the equation, a fan decided to bring it back through a mod.
