Despite its intense difficulty that has led many players to question their life choices, "Elden Ring" has become a favorite of many gamers, winning many accolades on the year of its release.
For those who can't get enough of it, FromSoftware has fortunately released a spin-off that features many of "Elden Ring's" mechanics and features. But do gamers love it as much as the original?

'Elden Ring Nightreign'
Released on May 30, 2025, "Elden Ring Nightreign" is developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Like the original game, "Nightreign" is a roguelike action RPG that offers a multiplayer experience.
Set in the now-named Limveld, the first open-world area of "Elden Ring," the game takes place in an alternate universe and features eight playable Nightfarers.
Each of these playable characters have their own storylines. The characters are as follows:
- Duchess
- Executor
- Guardian
- Ironeye
- Raider
- Recluse
- Revenant
- Wylder
'Very Positive' Reviews on Steam
As of writing, "Nightreign" has more than 102,000 user reviews on Steam, which has categorized them as "Very Positive."
"'Elden Ring: Nightreign' is a blast, especially when it comes to the boss fights; they're tough, creative, and super satisfying to beat," Steam user GHOST said in a review. "The characters you can play as feel really different from each other, which keeps things interesting."
"If this game gets regular free updates like new nightfarers, bosses, weapons, skins, enemies and all that, it CAN be one of the greatest games of all time," Steam user Unavailable said in a separate review. "Right now, it's really good, but it can be so much better, and I hope it does."

Over at Google Reviews, "Elden Ring Nightreign" has three stars out of a possible five as of press time.
"Fun combat, easy to start learning and get into, but quite difficult to get good at. Really fun, especially with friends. Still really good with random players," Google user Atlas Fontaine said in a review. "Quite difficult solo, but I have read it's to receive a balancing patch to make solo less punishing to play."
"I went into 'Nightreign' expecting a fresh take on 'Elden Ring,' and while it delivers some thrilling moments, it's definitely a different beast," Jayson Bissell said in a separate Google Review. "The shift to a roguelite, co-op-focused experience is bold, and when everything clicks—when you have a solid squad, a good strategy, and the right upgrades—it can be incredibly rewarding."
