"Ready or Not" developers are now sharing a mod that could remove all of the censorship that they placed on the game, particularly as they toned down the brutality and violence depicted in the action RPG.
The latest scoop from developers was revealed as they are preparing to ship a version of the game to consoles, with several of its extreme content blurred from sight.
Despite the many violent and adult themes in various games that have already made their way into consoles, "Ready or Not" still presents a unique depiction of violence that may not sit well with audiences, hence the censors.
It should be noted, however, that the mod will only be available for PC.
'Ready or Not' Devs Unveil a Mod to Remove Censorship
VOID Interactive's "Ready or Not" is close to releasing to consoles, including Xbox Series S and X and the PlayStation 5 two years after the game's release on PC. However, before that, the developers have one last treat for players, and it is a way for players to remove the censorship that was recently added.
According to ComicBook Gaming's report, VOID Interactive developers addressed the recent issues surrounding the game, particularly as it had to apply censorship in several areas of the action title as it heads to console. Many fans have already experienced the raw version of the game in its PC release, and for those who want to continue that, there is a mod that would remove all the censorship they placed.
The developers reportedly addressed this issue via their latest announcement on Discord, announcing to players that if they wish to experience the game's original state, they may choose to mod it to get rid of all the content blockers. However, as noted by the report, players may experience several potential performance issues after applying the mod.
No Censorship Brings More Brutal Experience
As "Ready or Not" was developed for consoles, VOID Interactive had to censor several parts of the game as it may be seen to be too brutal or violent for the audience, and this led to the PC version also getting the same treatment. This effectively changed the experience for those who are on PCs, particularly as they got the original and uncensored version of the game, only to have it taken away.
The game's main story centers on a S.W.A.T. team that responds to severe cases, faced with the brutal parts of the job as law enforcement officials. This includes themes or situations involving school shootings, human trafficking, crimes against children, and more.
