Nintendo is removing the Switch's Game Voucher. The program offers two first-party Nintendo games with a notable discount for those who opt for the voucher, making it one of the best ways to save money when buying new games.
This program has been an exclusive feature under the Switch Online Store marketplace and has been a treat for gamers since its launch more than five years ago as it includes new releases.
Nintendo Axes Switch Game Voucher Program
Nintendo shared a new announcement on X which spelled bad news for long-time Switch users and new ones who are playing on the Switch 2 as the company is axing the Game Voucher program. The program is one of the best ways to purchase new Switch games on the console, offering the digital version of the title and bundling two games under one purchase.
The Switch Game Voucher offers two first-party titles for users to purchase from the Nintendo eShop, and over the years, it has given players a way to save money when buying Nintendo-exclusive titles. The game voucher is still available now, but starting January 30, 2026, Nintendo claims that it will no longer sell this to the public.
The announcement, however, has a silver lining for those who would opt to stock up on the Switch Game Vouchers as it will still be sold until the said deadline, and these would be available for 12 months after the purchase.
This means that for users who will be buying the Switch Game Voucher by January 29, 2026, they will still be able to use it to purchase new titles until January 29, 2027.
After January 30th, 2026, #NintendoSwitch Game Vouchers will no longer be sold. Any Game Vouchers bought will remain valid for 12 months after purchase. Switch titles will continue to be added to the Game Voucher catalogue throughout 2026.

Moreover, Nintendo guaranteed to players that the Game Voucher catalogue of titles would continue to be updated throughout 2026, so users who own it would still get new games to buy as bundles using their voucher.
No More Discounts for 2 First-Party Games
The Switch Game Voucher currently sells for $99.98, and this already allows players to buy two games in one, with their choice of titles from the available ones in Nintendo's catalogue. Most of the titles included in the program are priced at $59.99, and getting two of these gives players a $20 discount when using game vouchers instead of purchasing them directly from the eShop.
However, according to Engadget, Nintendo did not make the famed Game Voucher program available to Switch 2 exclusive titles, which means that only the past-generation releases are available to purchase using it.
