Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Daniel Mullins Games have announced an August 30 release date for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions of Inscryption, with pre-orders now up on the PlayStation Store. The horror card battler was first released on PC via Steam, the Epic Gamers Store, GOG, and Humble Store last year, October 19, 2021. Check out the PC trailer below.

The announcement for the PlayStation release was made on the official Devolver Digital page:

Inscryption sports a rare Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam, making it one of the few card games to reach this feat. Daniel Mullins Games, the developer, is best known for other horror indie hits including The Hex and Pony Island, with the latter also having an Overwhelmingly Positive rating.

Inscryption is quite unique in its presentation and overall imagery, utilizing roguelike elements and various escape-room style puzzles to unnerve the player at every turn. The game takes place in the confines of Leshy’s cabin, and with each boss defeated on the board, you get closer to unveiling the secrets behind the walls of the place.

Inscryption costs $19.99 on the PlayStation Store, with some savings to be had if you’re purchasing with a PlayStation Plus membership. It’s unclear what build of the game will go live on the platform, although if it’s on par with the PC version, players should expect the mini-expansion called Kaycee’s Mod.

This particular mod is special in that it added a free expansion to the game that turns a particular level into a full roguelike, allowing for endless replayability for players who grew addicted to Leshy’s deck-building shenanigans. Kaycee’s Mod makes Part 1 of the game virtually endless, with ever-scaling challenges for those who dare to brave it.

As it is an expansion, it also added new items, rare cards, various balancing changes to make the game closer to a roguelike, and various other challenges for players to look out for. Inscryption: Kaycee’s Mod exited out of player beta on March 18, and it will be great to see it as part of the PlayStation release on August 30.
