'Mario Kart World' Mirror Mode: Here's How It Works, How to Unlock Tracks and Free Roam

Mirrored Mode is the challenge that players have loved in every game installment.

Those who have already received their Nintendo Switch 2 have the unique and exclusive capability of playing "Mario Kart World" as this exclusive game for the successor console is already out and available for all.

As many players may have already discovered, there is one iconic feature that joins the new game but was taken from previous installments in the series. That is none other than Mirror Mode that flips everything that users know of in the racing game, and it has since been a staple experience for players that challenges them to dominate despite having opposite controls.

'Mario Kart World' Mirror Mode Is Available

According to CNET, every Nintendo fan knows that in all "Mario Kart" games since "Mario Kart 64" has offered a Mirror Mode experience as a way to challenge players. The same experience is now made available for "Mario Kart World" on the Nintendo Switch 2, and despite the many maps, race modes, and experiences available, Mirrored Mode holds its own.

Instead of the races using the usual X-axis for its tracks and maps, it will take users on its opposite Y-axis, which overhauls almost everything players know about the game, except for its characters.

Through this iconic mode, players who have mastered cornering, drifting, and zooming past opponents on the race track are given a new challenge.

How to Unlock Mirror Mode Races

There are several conditions before players get to unlock the Mirrored Mode experience in "Mario Kart World," and users need to tick all the boxes before they see it appear on the races.

First, users need to complete and win all the Grand Prix Cups and Knockout Tour Rallies in the 150cc configuration. The 50 and 100cc displacements are not required to be completed for Mirrored Mode.

Next, collect and complete all 10 of the P-Switch challenges which feature special timed courses throughout the game.

Players also need to collect 10 Peach Medallions and 10 "?" panels all around the Free Roam mode. Peach Medallions are usually hidden in corners as well as beaten paths, while the "?" panels are found in open areas or amidst wall-riding sections of racetracks.

Lastly, users have to compete in all of the Special Cup races in the 150cc configuration again (winning is optional). This is the final requirement to unlocking Mirror Mode in "Mario Kart World."

After completing all requirements, users may be able to select Mirror Mode on Race modes on its landing screen.

How to Unlock Mirror Mode in Free Roam

Following unlocking Mirror Mode for races, Free Roam also features this. In contrast, it is available to unlock easily. Players only need to head to the Peach Stadium track in Free Roam and locate Princess Peach's stained-glass portrait on the roof of her castle.

To get to the roof, players only need to go to the racetrack and speed through an area that would land them on the roof, then all users need to do is climb toward the castle's midsection to get to the stained glass.
