"Pokémon TCG Pocket's" Lake of Rage mission is not off to a good start, particularly as fans are now sharing their frustration, and some are going as far as to call it "unfeasible" to accomplish.
Players are arguing that this new mission feels like it should have been a "secret" one as its requirements are extensive for players, especially those who only play the game for free and do not rely on purchasing its Premium or Gold bars.
'Pokémon TCG Pocket' Lake of Rage Mission Face Backlash
GameRant reported that the latest mission shared by DeNA, the game's developer, has led to many fans calling them out and sharing their frustrations online because of what it requires players.
"Pokémon TCG Pocket" recently added the 'Lake of Rage' mission, which is part of the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion pack, and while its requirements are simple, it is hard to accomplish.
The Lake of Rage mission only asks for players to collect five cards from the said expansion pack, and it requires them to get four Magikarp with one-diamond rarity and the ultra-rare Shiny Gyarados.
This specific Shiny Gyarados is also known as the Red Gyarados of the Pokémon Universe, which is also regarded as a rare creature in action RPG titles and the animated series.
While the Red Gyarados only has a one-star Shiny rarity, it has a low pack probability chance regardless.
There are different options to obtain cards in "Pokémon TCG Pocket," and it is either through opening packs or collecting enough Pack Points to purchase them directly, which saves users from the hassle of opening multiple packs.
However, according to GameRant, a user from Reddit has gone as far as to create a chart explaining how obtaining it through pack opening would take users as many as 1,000 packs to get a guaranteed Red Gyarados from the Wisdom of Sea and Sky's Lugia pack.
Players Call Lake of Rage Mission 'Unfeasible'
The user showed off the probability analysis of opening the packs in the hope of pulling the Red Gyarados card, especially as the Shiny card only features a 0.3558 percent probability of being drawn in packs.
Several users who commented or posted about the Red Gyarados called this new mission "unfeasible," especially for those who are only playing the game for free.
Players who do not rely on the Premium pass and buy Poke Gold from the store would take a long time before they accomplish this mission, which players said should have been a secret one instead.
According to the pack, the "Chase Strategy" or relying solely on opening packs gives users a decent chance of 16.3% probability within the 50 packs they open. This number almost doubles within 100 packs as there is a 30% chance of drawing the Shiny Gyarados.
However, after opening 150 packs and failing to draw the card, the Redditor advises users to stop opening packs and obtain it directly using Pack Points.
It only requires 1,000 Pack Points to purchase the Red Gyarados, which users could obtain after opening 200 packs under the Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion, and by then, users only get a 51% chance of drawing it using the chase strategy.
