The Lich King has arrived in Hearthstone. This ghastly villain has awoken from his slumber and is now leading his undead army in the March of the Lich King, the latest expansion which also introduces the new Death Knight class and a new keyword.

In a statement, Blizzard Entertainment President Mike Ybarra shared that they’re excited to bring Death Knights to the game since it’s not often a new class is introduced. He added that the Lich King not only returns to wreak havoc in Hearthstone but also add new challenges while shaking up the meta.

Welcome the Death Knight

In this new expansion, players will be armed with the all-new Death Knight class after finishing a short prologue. They can also unlock 32 unique core cards that’s sure to challenge the meta.

All Death Knight heroes come equipped with Ghoul Charge, a hero power which summons a 1/1 Ghoul with Charge that dies at the end of the turn. That’s not all since even dead minions can be a cause for celebration as they play a pivotal role in powering up specific cards that require corpses.

Death Knight is a powerful and flexible class powered by three Runes: Blood, Frost, and Unholy. The player’s chosen devotion to these Runes determines which cards they can put in their deck. You can learn more about the Death Knight here.

Meet the Minions

Helping the Death Knights are a new minion type known as Undead. Hundreds of minions from previous expansions have been updated retroactively and now have the Undead tag. Thus, some minions now sport dual types.

Check Out the Keywords

Be ready for the Reborn keyword, returning as an evergreen mechanic, and the new Manathirst keyword. Cards with Manathirst get extra powerful after the player reaches a specified amount of mana. The thing is players won’t need to spend that mana to power up the cards. How cool is that?

March of the Lich King is the third expansion for the Year of the Hydra. Hearthstone is available on PC, Android, and iOS.
