Amazon is now selling the Nintendo Switch 2 on its platform following massive questions from customers and the industry. It is known that Amazon and Nintendo have run into significant issues that kept the Switch 2 unavailable for several weeks on the platform, but now, it is officially available.
However, there are still several caveats on buying the Switch 2 on Amazon as it is not yet directly available, but it is worth considering now especially as the Prime Day sale event is here.
Amazon Now Sells the Nintendo Switch 2
ComicBook Gaming reported that the Nintendo Switch 2's official listing is now available on Amazon's platform following its long absence on the e-commerce giant.
The official Nintendo listing of the Switch 2 console and its only bundle made its way to Amazon on Monday, and it is right in time for the ongoing Prime Day sale of the platform. The Prime Day sale is best known for its massive discounts and freebies for customers, with many items eligible for free shipping, and is one of the best sale events to purchase new goods.
Nintendo has recently updated its official seller account on Amazon to feature the Switch 2 console-only option, as well as the Switch 2 and "Mario Kart World" bundle. In a previous report, it was revealed that Nintendo previously had a problem with Amazon, which allowed third-party sellers to offer the Switch and its games for cheaper than the suggested retail price.
This effectively put a rift between Amazon and Nintendo, leading to the Kyoto-based gaming giant skipping updating its seller profile and page for new items that it offered.
Switch 2: Not Yet Directly Available
The Amazon listing of Switch 2 consoles and bundles may be late by almost an entire month, but the good thing is, it is now here. That being said, there is still a catch to buying the Switch 2 on Amazon as it is not yet directly available to purchase.
In both listings of the Switch 2, users would only see one option on Amazon which shows a "Request Invite" button, with the latest-generation console only available by invitation to purchase on the platform.
According to Amazon, the Switch 2 is a "high-demand item with limited quantities," and they would not be able to "grant all requests" of console purchases as of writing.
This current setup on Amazon is similar to Nintendo's website which only allows interested buyers to request a purchase invitation before being emailed or notified that they may buy the device.
For users who will receive the email from Amazon, they would have 22 hours to purchase the Switch 2 option they choose before the invite link expires, and they would have to request another invitation.
