It's time to get ready for the undead as the next expansion for Hearthstone is all about the March of the Lich King. There will be 145 new cards with the introduction of the new Death Knight class. Be prepared as well for dual-type and undead minions along with a new keyword. So, expect a lot of new content when this new expansion arrives December 6.
Once the new expansion goes live, a new minion type is added to the game and it's none other than Undead. Many minions from past card sets now have the new Undead type, in addition to the army of minions. There's also the Dual-Type minions created to capture the essence of what the new minions have to offer. For example, some minions have Undead Dragons and Demon Pirates as their type.
"Reborn" is the new keyword for this new expansion, and minions with this keyword return to life the first time they die but with only one health. While the Reborn keyword is going to be commonly featured on Undead minions, players may occasionally see it on other cards as well.
Card Updates
With a new class set to be introduced in the March of the Lich King expansion, two cards have been updated as a result. One of these is Theotar, the Mad Duke, which has been nerfed in a previous patch but his play rate still didn't drop. It's been nerfed again to lower the play rate and ensure that players can enjoy the Death Knight once it's released. The change made to Theotar are:
- Old: [5 Mana] 3 Attack, 3 Health
- New: [6 Mana] 4 Attack, 4 Health
Ice Revenant is another card that's been nerfed because with the Death Knight having access to multiple cheap Frost spells, it was possible to have Ice Revenants at game-ending sizes even as early as the fourth turn. The change is:
- Old: Whenever you cast a Frost spell, gain +2/+2.
- New: Whenever you cast a Frost spell, gain +1/+1.
