Crusader Kings 3 Reveals Some Interesting Stats A Month After Release

It's just been a month.

Crusader Kings 3 is just a month old and in celebration, developer Paradox Interactive shared some rather interesting accomplishments. For starters, it turns out that more than 25 million hours have been spent playing the game. In terms of in-game playtime, that should equate to about 2,800 years.

Like we said, interesting. Before we go into the other figures, another fascinating fact is that since the game’s release on September 1, there have been 1,543,790 prisoners cannibalized. It’s not all prisoners though, since at least one Pope has apparently been cannibalized as well. Other figures that may interest you include:

  • 40,591,268 children born
  • 18,212,157 successful murder schemes executed
  • 4,364,279 betrothals
  • 1,451,427 holy wars started
  • 716,369 stress breaks
  • 370,305 pets petted
  • 141,597 universities founded
  • 122,364 escapes from prison
  • 29,454 Roman Empires restored

For those who haven’t heard of this, Crusader Kings 3 is a game where players have taken to their thrones to start cultivating royal bloodlines that are strong enough to lead armies or cunning enough to withstand what could be the most devious of plans. Players can even develop descendants that have enough charisma that can shape not only culture, but even religion.

Update 1.1

Paradox also released patch 1.1 which brings with it massive changes.

Bug fixes include changes to how characters interact and modify the rules of succession. For example, clan rulers now desire fewer spouses the lower their tier is. Thus Baron/Counts want one, while Dukes want two and Kings go for three. Emperors, meanwhile, are likely to want four. Another fix is that inheritance succession now go up to six generations, instead of three.

Update 1.1 also makes some corrections to the historical setup of many regions. Some Prussian dynasty names have been changed to sound less German. The Kashmiri culture, on the other hand, no longer begins with Elephantry unlocked. This is because most of them are outside the sub-continent of India.

There’s also going to be tweaks to the UI like a bookmark screen and new siege views. AI decision making has been improved as well, so players need to look out for that.

Modders also get new abilities, which should excite those who want to come up with their own maps and scenarios.

You can view the complete patch notes here. Just prepare yourself since the update is indeed massive.
