Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed is coming to North America and Europe, available digitally on Nintendo Switch for $29.99. However, there's also a limited physical Day 1 Edition for $39.99 available on the XSEED Games Store and participating retailers in North America.

The limited physical Day 1 Edition not only has the base game but also comes with a musical selection CD and a set of nine oversized art cards that feature original illustrations by different Japanese artists to celebrate the 10th anniversary since the release of the original title. Pre-orders in North America will be available soon.

Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed is an expanded version of the original game released in 2014. Those who have the original release can get the new DLC titled Kati's Route. It follows the story of Kati Räikkönen, a Finnish exchange student and part-time maid. It's available for PC and PlayStation 4 for $7.99.

Updated Version

Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed has been updated from the original release to attract the new generation. One way to describe this version is that it offers modern supernatural adventure for those Japanophile having discerning tastes.

It puts players in Nanashi. He is an otaku that’s been transformed mysteriously into a vampire and then thrust into a conspiracy of “Synthisters,” which has been plaguing the electronics mecca. Nanashi must defend his fellow otaku from vampire predators and later discover that the best way to defeat them is to strip them of their bare essentials and expose them to the cleansing power of the sun. He fights alongside allies called the Akiba Freedom Fighters.

The game features a fully-voiced “true ending” route that stars the lovable maid Kati. There are also original side quests which introduce more offbeat otaku denizens of Akihabara. Players can choose from an arsenal of new weapons and armor as well.

Game Story and Battle

The game’s story is played out like a visual novel where players can choose what to say from three different phrases and move the story forward. Some choices increase the player’s affection level with certain characters which will lead to different endings. For gameplay, the playable character is customizable using clothing and headgear. Players can even select a walking style and stripping style. Other customization features are unlocked once they beat the game for the first time.

For combat, players can choose what weapon they want to use and can attack the lower, middle, or upper part of the enemy’s body with the goal of weakening their clothing.
