Good news for fans of Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed. A Director’s Cut is currently in development and set to launch on Nintendo Switch in North America in 2023. It’s an expanded version of the original game released in 2014.

In addition, publisher XSEED Games revealed that players can look forward to a new story route focused on the Finnish exchange student, otaku, and part-time maid named Kati Räikkönen. It’s actually considered as the game’s “true ending” and part of the Director’s Cut, along with all the downloadable content available in the original game.

Those who have Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed on PC and PlayStation 4 need not worry since they can buy “Katis’ Route” as a separate DLC. More details on this to be revealed at a later date.

Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed tells the story of one Nanashi, who has been lured into a trap and transformed into one of the walking undead. He was spared the worst of his fate by the bloody kiss of the mysterious Synthister hunter named Shizuku. Together with his companions in an organization unofficially dubbed the “Akiba Freedom Fighters,” Nanashi and Shizuku must now discover the truth behind the Synthister plague and save Akiba from being overrun by these violent and antisocial energy vampires.

The game’s story is played out like a visual novel with players having the ability to select what to say from three different phrases and move the story forward. Some choices increase the player’s affection level with certain characters which will lead into different endings.

In terms of gameplay, the playable character is customizable using clothing and headgear. Players can even select a walking style and stripping style. Other customization features are unlocked once they beat the game for the first time.

When it comes to battle, players can choose what weapon they want to use. They can then attack the lower, middle, or upper part of the enemy’s body with the goal of weakening the clothing. The more players strip a certain kind of clothing, the more their strip increases. This ensures that clothes won’t tear and can then be kept in the inventory.

Excited about the Nintendo Switch version?
