Patch 8 of Terra Invicta gives players better control options to tactical fleet battles. There are also new narrative events and a new combat music track.

The new patch now lets players select groups of ships via two ways. The first is that they can hold the Shift button and select the ships. The second is using the new box select and to do this, players have to click and drag the left mouse button to draw a box around the ships they would like to select.

That's not all since players can now also assign groups to hotkeys by simply pressing Ctrl + [0-9]. Once a group is set, players can then select that group again by pressing the associated number.

The multi-ship selection isn't the only new improvement done for combat controls. Others include:

  • Fleet-wide ship maneuvers.
  • Hold Ctrl to orient group waypoints toward the mouse pointer.
  • Hold Alt to orient group waypoints away from the mouse pointer.

The new update also introduces players to 20 new narrative events. In addition, some event art on existing events have been updated. Other improvements are:

  • Improved Army pathfinding, including the ability to set waypoints.
  • Assaulting habitats has been reworked.
  • The Defend Interests mission has been rebalanced.

Aside from what's mentioned, the new patch also comes with version updates on the testing branch.

Extraterrestrial Danger

Terra Invicta is set in a time where an alien invasion has divided humanity into seven ideological factions, with each having a unique vision for the future. Players lead their chosen faction and take control of Earth’s nations and then see if they can expand across the Solar System where they fight against enemy fleets in tactical combat.

The factions are:

  • The Resistance
    • Works to form an alliance of nations to mount a coordinated defense.
  • Humanity First
    • Vows to exterminate the aliens alongside any who sympathize with them.
  • The Servants
    • Worship the aliens and believe they can solve all the troubles of the world.
  • The Protectorate
    • Advocates negotiated surrender as the only means to avoid annihilation.
  • The Academy
    • Hopes the alien arrival heralds the opportunity to form an interstellar alliance.
  • The Initiative
    • Seeks to profit from the chaos and destruction.
  • Project Exodus
    • Plans to build a massive starship and flee the Solar System.

Terra Invicta is on Steam Early Access.
