Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris is now available on Nintendo Switch, and on top of offering action-packed battles set in an expansive world, the game also showcases stunning JRPG visuals.
The game is available in two versions. The first is the Digital Standard Edition priced at $49.99, and the second is the Digital Deluxe Edition at $89.99. In addition to the base game, the Deluxe Edition also has the Premium Pass, which comes with two major expansions and a special costume as a bonus.
If you’re not sure if the game is for you, don't worry. That’s because a free-to-play demo of the game is available. In the demo, players can play up to the point in Chapter 1 when they meet Media and just before arriving in Zakkaria. It goes without saying that any saved data in the demo can be carried to the full version.
In Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris, players take on the role of Kirito and go on an adventure in a medieval-fantasy virtual world filled with intense combat and action-packed scenes. Players take on the journey with the likes of Eugeo, Alice, and other fan-favorite characters by their side. The game offers players an original storyline supervised by none other than renowned author Reki Kawahara. The story has Kirito and the gang meet Medina, heiress of the Orthinanos disgraced family. To clear her name, Medina plans on becoming an Integrity Knight. While indeed new, this same storyline has since been added to the manga canon narrative.
The game is based on the Sword Art Online, a series of novels of the same name created by Reki Kawahara, which also has an anime version. It tells the story of Kirito in a virtual world known as Sword Art Online, and the real world.
Specifically for Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris, it’s based on the story arc “Alicization” for both novel and anime, set in a virtual world “Underworld.” The game is faithful to the main story, all the way to the final fight against the main boss of the first half, which is the Administrator. After the battle, the game then branches out and tells an original story.
