Publisher Bandai Namco has just announced that its upcoming RPG Scarlet Nexus will also be released for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. This news comes just a few days after Scarlet Nexus' initial showing at Microsoft’s Xbox Series X showcase.

Scarlet Nexus’ story is set in the distant future wherein a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain. This granted people extra-sensory abilities and changed the landscape of the world as we know it. However, just as humans were being ushered into this new era, a species of deranged mutants known as Others (eldritch-looking creatures) descended from other dimensions with a thirst for human brains. The Other are highly resistant to conventional attacks, so extreme measures must be taken before engaging them.

Players assume control of Yuito Sumeragi, a new recruit to the OSF (Other Suppression Force), a group of individuals gifted with these psionic abilities. Players will guide Yuito through the streets of the futuristic city of New Himuka and uncover the mysteries behind the appearance of these terrible creatures.

Bandai Namco also detailed several features of Scarlet Nexus on its website, including the game’s signature kinetic psychic combat. Using psycho-kinetic abilities, the world around you become your greatest weapon. Lift, break and throw pieces of your environment to build your attack combos and lay waste to your enemies.

Described as taking place in a brain-punk future, Scarlet Nexus will allow players to explore and protect a futuristic Japanese landscape that combines inspirations from classic anime and western science fiction. Dive into a complex story of bonds, courage and heroism crafted by minds behind the iconic Tales of Vesperia.

Scarlet Nexus is one of the many titles confirmed for the Xbox Series X during Microsoft’s Xbox Series X Showcase held on May 7. Among the other titles confirmed are Bright Memory Infinite, DiRT 5, Scorn, Chorvs, Madden 21, Call of the Sea, The Ascent, and more.
