There’s no question that the Super Bowl is one of the biggest sports events in the US. In celebration of this upcoming event, Rocket League has partnered with the NFL to launch the NFL Super Bowl LV Celebration. It brings back the NFL Fan Pack as well as introducing a new game mode known as Gridiron. These start tomorrow, February 2, and end on February 8.

Super Bowl 55 is set to be played on February 7 with the Kansas City Chiefs going against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This event comes with three milestones. First, the Buccaneers will become the first team to play a Super Bowl in its own home stadium. Second, the Buccaneers will see Tom Brady play his 10th Super Bowl. And third, with the pandemic still ongoing, only 22,000 fans are allowed in the stadium, which is the lowest ever.

You can watch the teaser for the Super Bowl 55 below:

The Gridiron LTM sees the Champions Field transformed completely with the hash marks along with the NFL logo at the 50-yard line. Here are the features of this new LTM:

  • Gridiron is 4 on 4.
  • The standard Rocket League ball has been replaced with an American football.
  • Touching the ball attaches it to the roof of the player’s car.
    • In Spike Rush, the ball attaches to wherever the player’s car made contact.
    • In Gridiron, it always attaches to the roof.
  • If any player touches the ball, that player becomes the ball carrier.
    • This sets up the opportunity for hand-offs to teammates or steals by the other team.
  • The carrier can single jump.
    • Double jumping drops the ball.
    • Players can also pass the ball by dodging.
  • Each goal is 3 or 7 points.
    • 7 points are awarded if the ball is attached to a player when entering the opponent's goal.
    • 3 points are awarded if the ball is passed in or if the ball is loose.
    • All own-goals are worth 3 points whether the ball is attached or it's loose.
  • Demos require Supersonic speed just like in standard modes.
  • Be sure to stay in bounds.
    • Players fumble the ball if they cross the line marked on the Arena wall.

Rocket League is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Season 2 is currently live and you can learn more about the Rocket Pass here.
