Resident Evil 4 Remake Coming to PS4 but not Xbox One

The most anticipated game by Capcom is not a new project but a remake of an acclaimed 2005 title, Resident Evil 4. Previously, the developer confirmed that the remake would release on March 24 for next-gen consoles and PC. Now, you can add one more platform to the list.

Capcom announced yesterday that the remake would launch on PS4 as well. However, there was no mention of an Xbox One port. Weirdly, only one current-gen console will be supported and not both. Maybe Sony made a deal with Capcom to get an exclusive current-gen port. You can watch the official announcement below at timestamp 20:50.

Upcoming Resident Evil Showcase

The developer didn’t reveal any other information about the remake. But don’t you worry; Capcom has promised that they will reveal additional intel next month at the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase. We don’t have an exact release date. However, a stream near Halloween makes the most sense. Maybe we will finally get a good look at gameplay, enemy types, and more.

Not a Good News

Many players, including me, don’t consider the current-gen port as a piece of good news. When the game was announced, we thought the developer would finally be able to utilize the new consoles properly. Many believed the upcoming title would not be held back by nine-year-old hardware. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case anymore.

Now, Capcom will have to develop the game while keeping PS4 in mind. Who knows how many concessions the developer will have to make so that the game runs properly on the current-gen console? By the time the remake releases, the new consoles will be more than two years old. It’s about time we leave the old hardware in the dust and embrace the latest technology.

Rumored Demos

If the previous rumors are true, then players can expect two demos for RE4 Remake. They will take place in the Village and Castle, and will be available in January. Keep in mind that this is not officially confirmed, so take this claim with a grain of salt.
