The second week of Ultra Bonus Challenge brings new Shiny Pokemon. Niantic

The Ultra Bonus Challenge in Pokémon Go is designed to reward players after completing challenge research tasks for the Fest events. The bonuses are divided into three separate weeks, allowing players to get access to a variety of rewards throughout the entire month of September.

The first week brought Johto to Niantic’s hit mobile game, and it is also when Pokémon from the second generation started to appear more frequently in the wild. Also, players had the opportunity to capture the enigmatic psychic pocket monster Unown's U, L, T, R, and A forms from 10km eggs.

The second week for Ultra Bonus rewards are here, running from September 9 to September 16. Right now, the game has introduced four Pokémon from Kanto – all of which have been regional specific. These pocket monsters are as follows (including where they can be captured):

  • Farfetch'd - South East Asia
  • Kangaskhan - Australia
  • Mr. Mime - Western Europe
  • Tauros - North America

The only catch, however, is that Pokémon Go players can only get one of these Pokémon through this event. But if you are committed enough to find a player to trade with, then nothing is impossible. Apparently, though, these regional restrictions are expected to be lifted, making them available in 7km eggs.

If you are lucky enough, you can encounter the shiny versions of these pocket monsters. What is more, Mr. Mime, Farfetch’d, Tauros, and Kangaskhan will be available beyond Week 2, going all the way to the end of Week 3.

Another interesting aspect of Week 2 is the upgrade Niantic made to hatching eggs. Basically, half egg hatching will be continued throughout the three weeks, giving you more chances of obtaining a rare shiny Pokémon.

Furthermore, Pokémon Go players now have the chance to capture the mythical Pokémon Deoxys, from generation three. It is even available in all four of its forms, i.e. normal, speed, attack, and defense. Expect this Pokémon to appear in Raid Battles. And if you are wondering which Pokémon can be the best counter, you can try Gengar, Tyranitar, and Mewtwo.
