Looks like there’s another Pokémon game on the horizon. It’s titled New Pokémon Snap and it should be obvious what the game is about, that is if you’re a fan. Serving as a sequel to the Pokémon Snap game released back in 1999, the new one is scheduled to be launched on April 30.

Set in the Lental region, players take on the role of an aspiring Pokémon photographer working with Professor Mirror and his assistant Rita. The two, along with the player, are on an ecological survey to get a snapshot of Pokémon in their natural habitat.

During the game, players need to keep a close watch and make sure to spot any Pokémon that’s lurking in different areas. It’s not going to be easy getting their attention but there’s one thing that can help. The Lental region has a fruit called Fluffruit, which when thrown to Pokémon, could allow players to interact with them. Players can even use this same fruit to lure those who are hiding or too shy to approach. Just remember to catch that perfect moment on camera.

For every photograph taken, the Professor will evaluate and give them a score. Professor Mirror is going to judge the photos based on how the Pokémon poses, how large they appear, how they’re facing the camera, and how they’re positioned in the frame. As players take more photos and complete research, they may get to see Pokémon looking and behaving in different ways.

Players can take as many photos as they want and then use the one with the highest score to put in their Photodex.

Looking for Pokémon also won’t be that difficult especially with the NEO-ONE, which is an auto-driving vehicle. This travel pod is going to steer players across different routes on the island so traveling is a bit easier. Not only that, players can have that extra time to get those perfect shots.

Nick Chavez at Nintendo of America said that with its “enchanting gameplay,” this new game offers “a fun twist on a Pokémon adventure.” He added the game is “a fun addition to the strong lineup of Pokémon titles” on the Switch.
