While console players of Monster Hunter World have been able to enjoy Geralt of Rivia's incursion into the game for some time now, PC players are still waiting for everyone's favorite OG monster hunter to accompany them on such hunts. Luckily, one of the biggest crossovers of this year has been finally been given a release date on PC.

Monster Hunter World x The Witcher 3 is set to release next month on May 9. This crossover features Geralt of Rivia as a playable character in a special quest. It involves the hunt for a leshen, one of those wooded antlered forest abominations featured in The Witcher 3.

Geralt appears in the New World, the setting for Monster Hunter World and is armed with his famous silver sword, ready as ever to hunt monsters. Geralt's original voice actor also comes back to voice him in the quest line, which, following The Witcher 3's design, is described as having different possible endings depending on the choices you make during the quest chain.

This new quest line is entitled Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest and kicks off Geralt's storyline. Finishing the quest rewards players with materials to craft Geralt's armor, plus a sword and shield based on his trademark silver monster hunting blade. It also rewards players with specific Witcher-themed Monster Hunter goodies, and probably the most important of all - a Nekker-inspired outfit for your palico.

The quest line will be made available for anybody whose Hunter Rank is 16, which means that if you're a new player to the game you first have to finish the main story line. Don't fret about missing out on this quest though - like most of the crossovers and events in Monster Hunter World, the quest line is a permanent addition and can be done at any time.

A second half of the quest line will also be made available once your hunter reaches rank 50, which opens up an Ancient Leshen hunting quest, which is more difficult but also rewards players with materials to craft the armor for Ciri - Geralt's adopted daughter - as well as dual blades inspired by her character.

This second half of the event quest line is set to be released on May 17 and will be rotated accordingly between release and May 30.
