Metal Gear Solid franchise has been dormant for the past five years. The last proper entry was Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain, which was also the last MGS game developed by Hideo Kojima. And no, Metal Gear Survive does not count. Chances of another MGS sequel plunged when Kojima and Konami ended their relationship badly.

But things may not be as hopeless as we previously believed. According to the latest rumors, a proper remake of the original Metal Gear Solid is in the works by Bluepoint Studios. The studio is well-known for developing amazing remakes and remasters. Their latest title, Demon’s Souls Remake, came out less than a month ago. It is well-received by critics. These are not half-effort remakes we are talking about. They are creations from the ground up.

YouTuber, Moore’s Law is Dead gave the clue of the remake. It’s the same channel that accurately leaked the God of War sequel. So, there is a good chance this rumor is also true. The channel claimed that the remake is in development for over three years. Developers may be ready to show the demo at upcoming events. However, Sony is being extra careful with the announcement. They look like dodging the past mistakes made by Microsoft regarding Halo Infinite.

If the claims are true, then you can expect Metal Gear Solid Remake a PlayStation 5 exclusive. This is due to the majority of Bluepoint Games only available for the console. There are some talks as well about Sony acquiring the game studio.

Moore’s Law is Dead mentioned in the same video that Kojima’s next game is Silent Hills. The game is supposed to be announced during the Game Awards 2020. Check our previous article for more information.
