Injustice 2 is one of the hottest games revealed at E3 2016, with the sequel to the DC Comics superhero/villain fighting game looking to bring even more characters and another awesome storyline.

We got some hands-on time with Injustice 2 and here are our impressions of the game.

CAN’T RAVE ENOUGH ABOUT THE GRAPHICS

The first Injustice game came out for last generation consoles, though NetherRealm dedicated the sequel to the next generation and it shows. Faces are clearer and more detailed, even more so than Mortal Kombat X.

Just look at all the gameplay for Supergirl; her movements and expressions are so realistic, and this coming from a game that is still months away from release.

Imagine at launch how polished and crisp the interactions and the graphics will be.

LEGACY PLAYERS JUMP RIGHT IN!

NetherRealm Studios has always had a knack for keeping the same control scheme for its fighting games. Mortal Kombat has, essentially, kept the same control scheme and inputs from previous games and Injustice 2 keeps the inputs from the first game intact for those who have been away from the game for awhile.

Batman feels like Batman and the same goes for Supes and Aquaman. Of course, new stages and interactions change the way fights go down in Injustice 2, especially the super moves, but Injustice 1 players will feel right at home.

NEW CHARACTERS ARE UNIQUE

There’s three new confirmed characters for Injustice 2: Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd and Supergirl.

We got to play with all three and they all feel unique. Supergirl feels like Superman but quicker, especially with her teleport ability. The devs at the Warner Bros. booth told us that Supergirl was the most popular character to play because of that.

Gorilla Grodd feels like Bane from the first game with his focus on throws, but the implementation of midrange TK attacks makes him a beast (no pun intended) in close and mid battling.

Atrocitus is the character I gravitated towards. He was a hard hitter with some unique abilities, including spewing acid blood and even incapacitating enemies with a blood geyser from the ground, leading into some monster combos. The addition of Dex-Starr to his movepool makes him even deadlier.

There’s a whole lot going on with Injustice 2. Even though the gear drops were present, for the sake of the demo they weren’t really a factor in the fighting, but it was a fun experience that writing about doesn’t do justice.
