Even if you’ve played thousands of hours of an MMO over the course of years, getting back into the groove of it after a long hiatus is a daunting task. That’s especially true for Guild Wars 2 - a game that features not only constant gameplay changes, but also a living world that changes throughout the seasons.

Fortunately for those who want to get back into their favorite MMORPGs, there are people like Reddit user u/Lishtenbird, who go out of their way to make it easier for players to ease their way back into the world of Guild Wars 2.

For players that stopped playing Guild Wars 2 for some reason or another, Lishtenbird cataloged every feature and content change that’s taken place in Guild Wars 2. The chart (find it here) is constantly updated, with the latest update being just a few days ago.

The chart is organized so that players can trace back how the game has evolved since the last time they played Guild Wars 2. For example, if you stopped playing in 2015, all you’d have to do is read starting from the 2015 mark to get a feel for the most important changes in each category. Categories include changes to the game’s story, the class system, global mechanics, player versus player, gear progression, etc.

If you used to love Guild Wars 2 (or still do) but can’t make heads or tails of the game you used to know, then this chart is a godsend. Personally, I stopped playing Guild Wars 2 back in 2015, and I tried to get back into it sometime in 2018 to find a shifted meta, re-balanced builds, and my character feeling completely out of place. I went over this chart, spent a little time on the Guild Wars 2 Wiki to make sense of some of it, and I must say, I haven’t enjoyed Guild Wars 2 this much in a long time.

Thanks a bunch, u/Lishtenbird!
