The upcoming Dragon Ball Fusions Nintendo 3DS game has been given an Aug. 4 release date in Japan, according to V Jump magazine via Anime News Network.

The 3DS fighting game revolves around your protagonist (and a new Dragon Ball character named Pinijji) wishing for Shenron to start the greatest and strongest martial arts tournament. The eternal dragon grants your wish and the Time Space Martial Arts Tournament begins.

Dragon Ball Fusions, as you can deduce from the title, will have a lot to do with the fusion mechanic in the Dragon Ball mythos. But in this game, the hook is the ability to fuse any two Dragon Ball characters to make a brand new fighter.

If you want to know what will happen if Goku and Broly fuse together? You can make it happen in Dragon Ball Fusions by using a Capsule Corp-made bracelet. These new fusions are called "EX Fusions" and some of these new fusions include Karoly (Kakarot (Goku) x Broly; spelled the same way as "calorie" in Japanese), Gorillin (young Goku x Krillin), Krigohan (Gohan x Krillin; a pun on the word chestnut rice), and Prillin (Piccolo x Krillin).

V-Jump has said in the past there will be “infinite possibilities” for how many fusions can be made in the new game.

While Japan gets Dragon Ball Fusions on Aug. 8, there has yet to be confirmation that the West will see the game, let alone a release date. But judging from the success of other Dragon Ball 3DS games, it’ll only be a matter of time before an announcement is made.
