It’s been quite some time since Dota 2 released an update, and last week Valve came out with Update 7.27d. Of the heroes that received a nerf, it was Spectre that was hit the hardest. Other heroes that got significant nerfs include Underlord, Venomancer, and even Doom.

Item Changes

Before we go into the hero changes, four items also received changes along with this update. When Update 7.27 first came out, it changed the components of Drum of Endurance, resulting in an increase to its cost. There was also the increase to the all attributes bonus. It appears that the increase may have been too strong as it is now back to +4 from +6.

Meanwhile, Heaven’s Halberd now requires a recipe, which increased the cost of the item by 400 gold. However, Soul Ring had its recipe cost lowered to 275.

Finally, Helm of the Dominator underwent two changes. First is that the minimum health to the dominated is now 1,000 instead of 1,500. The second change is that the helm now also gives +4 Armor to the dominated creep.

Hero Changes

As we mentioned, Spectre got hit the hardest. Desolate damage, for example, has been lowered to 15/30/45/60 from 24/36/48/60. Lowered as well was the Spectral Dagger damage to 75/130/185/240 from 90/140/190/240. As you can see, the figures mean that Spectre is going to have a bit of a difficult time in the early game.

You’ll probably say 'well, there’s always the late game.' However, that too has taken a bit of a hit. The cooldown for Haunt has now been upped from 180/10/120 to 180/160/140.

Doom also experienced some nerfs that impact the hero. Scorched Earth's duration is now 15 seconds instead of 16 seconds. The HP Regen for Devour has been lowered from 2/6/10/14 to 1/5/9/13. One of his Level 10 Talents got hit as well, with the Scorched Earth Movement Speed now at +10%

Moving on to Underlord, his three skills have all been nerfed. Firestrom, for instance, had its cast range scaled to 600/625/650/675 instead of just 675. Pit of Malice's cooldown has been increased to 21/19/17/15. To be fair, the disable duration has been increased as well, and is now 1.2/1.4/1.6/1.8. The creep bonus for Atrophy Aura has been changed from 4/6/7 to 2/4/6/8.

Finally, we look into Venomancer, whose nerfs are likely to have an impact on its utility. Manacost for Plague Ward has been scaled and increased to 20/22/24/26. The gold bounty has also been increased. That means it’s not going to be simply just putting out those wards. Poison Sting as well has been nerfed, with both damage and slow lowered.
