Call Of Duty: WWII Zombies has an official reveal trailer, and it channels some seriously dark themes. Can Marie rescue her brother in this spooky story? Call Of Duty: WWII comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Nov. 3. Sledgehammer Games/Activision

Call Of Duty: WWII Nazi Zombies has officially been revealed, and we have the trailer to prove it. As suggested by last weekend’s leak, Sledgehammer’s take on co-op may be the mode’s darkest and most dire treatment yet. The developer’s Dead Space heritage is very present in this clip.

News updates are still developing in terms of the mode’s content, but here’s what the trailer tells us so far. An obviously manic villain utters the following monologue to set the tone for the plot:

“I have seen a vision of our Fuhrer’s future, the death of the old world and the birth of the new. Can you hear it? Drums. The drums of war, the march of progress. I have built more than just a new kind of soldier. I have created the devil himself.”

Behind these words we see lots of dark and unsettling images. There are vacant hallways, zombies with caged faces, flickering lights, electric science machines and plenty of World War II weaponry. As many Call Of Duty and history enthusiasts expected, Call Of Duty: WWII Nazi Zombies will seemingly delve into the complex occult lineage of the infamous Third Reich. Whoever may be speaking the above quote, there’s definitely a mad scientist vibe on display.

With this trailer setting the scene, it’s Sledgehammer’s development team that clues us in on the full story. It focuses on the brother-sister duo of Klaus and Marie. Klaus, having become a patriot for the German cause, joins a group associated with finding rare artifacts. It’s during that work that he comes in contact with Barbarossa’s Sword. The relic holds the key to beginning the zombie terror that this mode is all about.

Fearing for her brother’s safety, Marie leads an expedition with some Monument Men heroes to rescue Klaus from behind Nazi lines. As a weapons maker and former U.S. spy, Marie is more than capable of taking on what seems like an impossible task.

When asked about the mode, Sledgehammer reaps said “Nazi zombies has what you know and love but with the Sledgehammer stamp.” For completionists, it was described as “the hardest Easter egg hunt you’ve ever been on.”

Below you'll find a few noteworthy tidbits from the Q-and-A that took place during the SDCC panel. Thanks to CharlieINTEL for the live tweets.
