UPDATE: The leak has been removed, and Sledgehammer has stepped in to suggest that the clip was an unfinished version of next week's Comic-Con trailer.

Call Of Duty: WWII Zombies will be officially unveiled during Comic-Con on July 20 , but thanks to a leak from Zombies influencer GlitchingQueen , you can watch it early. It’s only in 720p and has heavy watermarks, but it’s definitely a watchable preview of what’s to come.

The trailer opens with an obviously passionate German-accented man spouting some bone-chilling Nazi dialogue:

“The war is lost, the Fuhrer's future is alive from the flesh of our flesh, not of our blood. I have forged the symbol of the glorious Fourth Reich.”

In the midst of that grandstanding, we see lots of truly dark images including corpses, dimming lights and, of course, a 1940s-inspired take on the undead. Gone are the cartoonish designs of Infinite Warfare, instead replaced by an absolutely gritty and grotesque perspective on classic Call Of Duty co-op. Past statements from Sledgehammer Games’ officials said WWII Zombies would harken back to the studio’s Dead Space roots and this clip is visible proof. History is real in the rest of this game, and the scares will be equally real in Zombies.

The trailer itself is a bit more of a tone piece than a narrative-focused preview, but official teases released earlier this week can potentially offer some plot insight. So far, fans have surmised that the mode will largely focus on two characters: Klaus and his sister Marie. Klaus is a patriot for the German cause, and he becomes mentally unstable after discovering a legendary artifact called Barbarossa’s Sword. Marie plans to save her brother by sneaking behind Nazi lines to get more details.

It’s unclear if this story is the exact same one players will experience throughout the duration of Zombies, but this trailer certainly seems to make some slight callbacks to similar ideas. The mentions of “forging the symbol of the Fourth Reich” could very well relate to repairing a blade like Barbarossa’s Sword. In other words, the mad and raving dialogue that fills this trailer could be from Klaus himself.

Call Of Duty: WWII Zombies was teased many months before this leak too. Shortly after the game’s initial reveal in April, fans used codes to unlock special classified files that suggested links to Operation Barbarossa and the Battle Of Dunkirk. Both military conflicts were some of Hitler’s most stunning defeats. This trailer mentions that “the war is lost,” so, maybe after those failures, the decision is made to leverage a Zombie virus to rise up once more. The Nazis are historically known for their ruthless scientific experimentation during the war, so that narrative would make perfect sense.

Those who want to learn more about WWII Zombies should keep a close eye on related social media on June 20 around 2:45 p.m. EDT. Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller will be on hand to host a related Comic-Con panel and recap all the creepy reveals.

Call Of Duty: WWII comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Nov. 3.
