Call Of Duty: WWII Zombies will get its full reveal during Comic-Con July 20 , but before that happens, the clever development team at Sledgehammer Games has offered some pretty critical teases. Here’s what we know about the mode’s potential story and map so far.

The intrigue began Thursday when Zombies influencer MrRoflWaffles announced he had received a letter from Sledgehammer with “12091” at the bottom. When entered into the Call Of Duty: WWII classified teaser site, the digits unlocked a second letter and a new image of a potential map.

This reddit thread has the full text of both letters, but we’ll summarize them for you. The one belonging to MrRoflWaffles is penned by Klaus to his sister Marie. During his studies at Heidelberg during the Nazi scientific renaissance, Kalus has apparently discovered a legendary artifact called Barbarossa’s Sword. The find has given meaning to the patriotic boy’s efforts and is widely appreciated by the German army.

Now three years removed, the public letter is one from Marie. She’s writing to an unknown person and expresses great concern for Klaus. Since his discovery, his letters have gradually devolved into madness. With her father now deceased, Marie has decided to sneak behind Nazi lines by disguising herself as a member of an organization called “The Monuments Fine Arts and Archives Program.” Using her talents as a former OSS agent, she intends to rescue her brother.

Also within the public letter, we get a blurry glimpse of what might be a map layout. There’s not much to draw on besides the faded views of German encampments, but you can take a look at it below.

For those who’ve been following the Call Of Duty: WWII teaser site closely, this code is far from the first one that’s been used to discover the game’s secrets. While past reveals have mostly focused on single-player content, one of the site’s first hints offered links to Zombies, Operation Barbarossa and the Battle Of Dunkirk.

From the story details we’ve received this week, at least we now know where Barbarossa comes from. The stage has been set for this year’s Zombies mode to be primarily focused on a rescue mission. Unlike Infinite Warfare’s more segmented chapter approach, this iteration seems to be aiming for a more unified narrative rooted in historical facts. If you ever wanted Call Of Duty Zombies to embody the weirdness and intrigue of Wolfenstein, this might be the closest we ever get.

These reveals follow a recent blog post from Sledgehammer that describes Zombies as a unique, dark and chilling experience. During a panel at 2:45 p.m. EDT on July 20, Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller will be on hand to unpack all the gruesome details. Social media will be used to update those who aren’t able to attend.

Call Of Duty: WWII comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Nov. 3.
