Battlefield 6 was announced back in November 2020 with little to no information. We didn’t even get a teaser trailer or the actual name of the game, and all we got was minor snippets of a tech demo. But new with leaks coming out, we might finally have some information.

According to the recent leaks by Tom Henderson, Battlefield 6 will act as a soft reboot for the franchise. It is supposed to be heavily inspired by Battlefield 3, arguably one of the best BF games. This will coincide with the previous rumor that the game will be set in the modern era, which means no more World War games for a while.

128 Player Mode and Cross-Gen

Henderson also claimed that Battlefield 6 will be called “Battlefield” to emphasize that the game is a reboot. Leaks suggested as well that there will be a 128 plus player mode but the standard 32vs32 mode will remain.

The game will launch on both current-gen and next-gen consoles. However, current-gen consoles will feature heavy graphical downgrades and limited destructibility to control visual effects. On the side of older consoles, the aforementioned 128 plus player mode will be absent. It appears your console will determine the features for you.

Battle Royale?

Thanks to the success of Call of Duty Warzone, EA is also interested in trying out a Battlefield battle royale mode. It won’t be the first time, though. EA launched Battlefield 5 Firestorm before yet it failed to live up to the hype. It’s possible EA might want to do a free-to-play BR mode for Battlefield 6 considering the success of Apex Legends.

Tom Henderson has been a trusted leakster. His previous leaks about Call of Duty and Battlefield were accurate so there is a good chance that this info is true as well, but still, there has been no official announcement so take it with a grain of salt.

It has been previously confirmed that Battlefield 6 is supposed to launch in late 2021, assuming it doesn’t get delayed due to COVID-19. If the release window is true, then we should expect an official announcement within a few months.
