There are many new features that players can expect in the upcoming Battlefield 2042. For example, unlike the other games in the series, this one is purely multiplayer. So, don't expect a single-player campaign. New as well is the Specialist system.

While still based on the four Classes, Specialists have one unique Specialty and Trait. The rest of the loadout can then be customized. What this means is they can equip their Specialist to ensure squad synergies.

The Natural-Born Leader

One of the new specialists is Kimble “Irish” Graves, a native of Brooklyn, New York, whose natural leadership qualities and combat skills more than makes sure that the Non-Patriated are kept safe.

His specialty is known as the Fortification System. It allows him to bring out the DSC Deployable Cover to protect from bullets and even explosives. He can also deploy the APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel to take down explosive projectiles. Meanwhile, his trait is Veteran, which provides armor and extra bonuses from defeated opponents.

The Nomad

Another specialist is Webster Mackay, who joined the Canadian military while in his teens. At the height of his career, he became a member of the counter-terrorism unit the Joint Task Force 2.

His specialty is the Grappling Hook. It fires a rope that attaches to surfaces. Once attached, the rope can be retracted to pull the player to the attach point. For his trait, Mackay has Nimble to allow moving quickly while aiming down sights.

The Medic

Maria Falck is a veteran support having a will so strong that it can’t be shaken by fear, danger, or even rank. She’s been part of the German army for six years and is now searching for her missing son.

Her specialty is the S21 Syrette Pistol, which fires syringes at teammates to provide healing. It can also be fired on enemies to do damage. Falck’s trait is Combat Surgeon which can bring downed allies to full health when they are revived.

The Engineer

Hailing from Russia, Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky is an engineer and an experienced weapons expert. While his true motives remain to be unclear, he can get the job done.

His specialty allows him to deploy the SG-36 Sentry System which can immediately engage enemy targets detected. With the Sentry Operator trait, he can spot an enemy target once the sentry gun locks on.

So what do you think? Which one’s your favorite?

Battlefield 2042 is scheduled to be released this October 22 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
