Respawn Entertainment just announced the Chaos Theory Collection Event for Apex Legends. While the event will make tons of changes to the gameplay mechanics, it will also bring adjustments to some weapons and legends. The coming update will tweak seven legends and three weapons on March 9.

Caustic is currently too OP and that’s why he is getting a big nerf. His Ultimate ability cooldown period is increased from 2.5 minutes to 3.5 minutes. The damage output of Nox Gas is also reduced. Rather than damage ramping up from 6 HP to 12 HP, it will now deal static damage of 5 HP per tick. Low Profile of Pathfinder will be removed while Wattson will now passively regenerate her shield at 0.5 HP per second.

Horizon’s Black Hole cooldown is increased by one minute. Rampart's explosives damage will affect Amped cover and Sheila normally, changing previous damage notes. When Gibraltar activates the Dome of Protection, the effect of 15% faster heal item usage is no longer available. Mirage’s cloaked revive and respawn can now be stopped by Revenant’s Silence.

Pellet damage of Mastiff is reduced to 11 from the previous 13, but its rate of fire is increased. Wingman will now have one more bullet in the magazine while the hip-fire of Hemlock has been raised. The weapon optics of all gold AR and LMG is changed to 2x Bruiser.

Legends Update


  • Nox Gas Grenade cooldown increased from 2.5 minutes to 3.5 minutes.
  • Nox Gas damages at a flat rate of 5 HP per tick instead of ramping up from 6 HP to 12 HP.


  • Removed Low Profile


  • Removed 15% faster heal item usage while in Dome of Protection.


  • Increased Black Hole cooldown from two minutes to three minutes


  • Revenant’s Silence now disables Mirage’s cloaked revive & respawn as well as Octane’s Swift Mend.


  • Wattson now has passive shield regen at 0.5 HP per second (half of Octane’s current health regen rate).


  • Explosives damage Amped Cover normally, instead of inflicting 200 damage.
  • Explosives damage Sheila normally, instead of inflicting 175 damage.

Weapons Update

Weapon Optics

  • All gold AR and LMG default optics updated to 2x Bruiser.


  • Pellet damage decreased from 13 to 11. The fire rate increased from 1.0 to 1.1.


  • +1 bullet to every magazine size, including the base.


  • Increased hip-fire spread.
