In most game updates, there is always an unintended effect that results in some features being tweaked. In Hearthstone’s latest Rise of the Mech event, the community has apparently found a rather powerful combo.

One of the new cards introduced with the event was the neutral legendary mech SN1P-SN4P. The mech has a three mana cost with Magnetic, Echo, and Deathrattle abilities. It also summons two 1/1 microbots. This card alone does not pose a large problem.

The community pointed out that when this card is combined with the Priest card Reckless Experimenter, the result can be an infinite damage combo. While this has yet to actually be seen in play, the potential is there.

Blizzard admitted that it was aware of the problem, and none other than Community Manager Christ Attalus confirmed this in a Reddit post. Indeed, Attalus said that the way these two cards interact could result in “an early-game infinite damage combo in Priest.”

Considering that SN1P-SN4P is a recent release, it is good to know that Blizzard has decided instead to make changes on Reckless Experimenter. Thus the card now reads:

  • Old: Deathrattle minions you play cost (3) less, but die at end of turn.
  • New: Deathrattle minions you play cost (3) less, but die at end of turn. (Cost can’t be reduced below 1).

While small, this change puts a stop to a possible infinite damage combo. Attalus has revealed that Blizzard is looking into how this change is going to affect gameplay over the next few weeks. The change is expected to go live with patch 14.4, which is scheduled for June 3. Once the change is live, players can disenchant Reckless Experiment for the full Arcane Dust for two weeks.

Attalus also said that they are “aware of some interactions that SN1P-SN4P creates in Wild when played alongside multiple copies of Mechwarper.”

SN1P-SN4P was introduced in the latest update that went live May 22. The main focus on the update was prompted in part with the rise of the Rogue decks. The four cards that underwent changes included EVIL Miscreant, Raiding Party, Preparation, and Archivist Elysiana.
