There's still more than a month to go before The Super Mario Bros. movie is released. However, why wait for the movie when you can experience Super Nintendo World in the real world? This is the latest attraction that opened at Universal Studios Hollywood. The experience starts with visitors entering a giant green pipe and into the Mushroom Kingdom. Just how cool is that?

Attending the opening was none other than Super Mario Bros. creator Shigeru Miyamoto, who is currently the Nintendo Co. Representative Director and Fellow. Joining him was Universal Studios Hollywood Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Strobl. It goes without saying that Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach were also present during the festivities.

Face the Challenge

One of the activities that fans can look forward to is the Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. This new and technologically advanced ride is inspired by, obviously, the Mario Kart video game series. It offers cutting-edge augmented reality and combines it with projection mapping technology, boosted by actual set pieces along a moving ride track.

This ride is set against a multi-sensory backdrop of color, sound, and movement. Guests are seated in stadium-style and four-seat vehicles where they navigate familiar courses through the creative use and integration of head-mounted AR goggles. This unique feature is what makes the ride different from other theme park attractions.

The Castle

In Super Mario Bros. games, Bowser’s Castle plays an important role and it’s pretty the same here because this structure functions as the key centerpiece of the land. It’s also the home to the signature ride Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. As visitors go through corridors and pass the hall of medallions and trophies, they can learn more about Bowser’s plans of defeating Team Mario and getting the coveted Golden Cup.

Interactive Gameplay

There are a lot of interactive areas available for guests to enjoy including punching the “? Blocks” to get digital coins. Guests can also collect keys when they win Key Challenges from Goomba Crazy Crank, Koopa Troopa POWer Punch, Piranha Plant Nap Mishap, and Thwomp Panel Panic. Those who collect at least three keys get the chance to access the final boss battle with Bowser Jr.

These are just some of the activities that everyone can enjoy at Super Nintendo World. What are you waiting for?
