Stranded Sails: Explorer of the Cursed Islands is an open-world farming adventure game. Bringing elements of role-playing, simulation, survival and sandbox games, Stranded Sails has drawn comparisons to genre classics such as Harvest Moon (Story of Seasons) and Stardew Valley.
Stranded Sails is set on a mysterious archipelago. You play as the son/daughter of a gravely injured captain after you and your crew are shipwrecked on a foreign island. This predicament requires you to step up as a leader, and set up a camp for you and the survivors. After, you have to establish a food source by creating a small farm. From the first seed you plant, your main goal will always is to build a new ship to set sail once again.
During your stay on the archipelago, you are responsible for the needs and morale of your crew. Through multiple story driven quests, you can be successful in stepping in the shoes of your currently disabled father by providing a hospitable temporary home for your survivors. These quests come with rewards such as upgradable tools, increased morale in the camp, and clothing and customization options for your crew as you get closer and closer to getting off the mysterious island. But undertaking these quests requires you to explore, and some islands are rumored to be cursed. You might even need to survive by fighting against supernatural dangers.
The highly anticipated game Stranded Sails: Explorers of the Cursed Islands can’t come soon enough for fans of the genre. Along with its digital release in October, the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions will also get a collectible “Signature Edition” on the same date of the digital release.
