A new story pack is coming soon to Stellaris that's sure to offer a new gameplay experience. In First Contact, players will discover an expanded range of events and mechanics for meeting pre-FTL civilizations. There are also new origins available focused on being met by the post-FTL civilizations.

The most exciting addition though in this story pack is cloaking technology. For the first time in the game, players can now hide not only their ships from their neighbors but even posts. The problem is that it's a two-way street, so players should also be wary of what their neighbors may be hiding.

New Origins

One of the new features arriving in the game courtesy of the upcoming story pack is New Origins, which include:

  • Broken Shackles
    • You may have reached the stars, but it happened because you were taken as an alien captive.
    • You and the other prisoners have finally taken over the ship and banded together to survive and try to thrive as a diverse new community.
    • It's time to rise to greatness and be noticed by your former captors.
  • Payback
    • No one believed you when you said that the world was being watched by an intelligent race, and you were proven right because they invaded.
    • Fortunately, your civilization was able to stop the invasion from a would-be conqueror from space.
    • With advanced technology now in your hands, it's time to learn more about what lies beyond the stars.
  • Fear of the Dark
    • You've been exploring your home system and have long suspected that there were others in the galaxy.
    • This suspicion heightens as one of the planets suffers from an "incident."
    • The problem is that a large faction of people in your world have long advocated not to tempt fate in the dark abyss of the unknown.
    • You now need to decide what path to follow.

New Options

The new story pack will introduce new Pre-FTL Interaction Options, new mechanics that give you a wider range of interactions when it comes to pre-FTL civilizations. It's also going to be dependent on the level of technology of the civilization and their awareness of your presence.

New Feature

Cloaking technology is finally debuting in the game. You can now equip ships with cloaking devices if you want to survey in secret or even catch enemies by surprise. There are also cloaked observation posts that let you keep an eye on pre-FTL neighbors. This also means that you need to have your own scanners and strong intel to avoid your neighbors doing the same to you.

Stellaris is available on PC.
