Publisher PQube, in collaboration with developer Joysteak Studios, has just released a demo for musical adventure game Songbird Symphony. The demo will be available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. The Nintendo Switch demo won’t be available for North America until July 15, but for those interested in Europe, it’s currently up and running. A new narrative trailer has also been released. The 1 minute 20 second clip introduces several characters from the upcoming title, while also providing sneak peeks of its soundtrack, aesthetics and gameplay elements.

Songbird Symphony follows the story of ‘Birb’, a bird who can’t seem to find his place in the world. Raised by a family of majestic, colorful peacocks, Birb can’t seem to fit in with his black and white ensemble and his fluffy feathers. Being different presents a lot of challenges for our young avian hero, but he doesn’t let it get to him.

Players will control Birb on a side-scrolling adventure to trace his roots. On his journey he will have to navigate through and beyond the forest he was raised in. This means encountering difficult challenges, but not without the help of a few characters along the way, such as the wise Owl who will be guiding him in his travels, his foster parent Uncle Pea (who may sometimes be too hyperactive to be a parental figure), and Egbert: not quite a bird, not quite an egg, but a friend to Birb all the same. Will Birb be able to find his true home, or will he realize the true home are the friends he made along the way?

Having tested out the demo, I was quite mesmerized by the whole presentation and its packaging. The music presented in Songbird Symphony is also very pleasing, and there's a whimsical touch involved that livens up the whole game. It also mixes its gameplay elements together quite boldly, featuring rhythmic sections within a mainly platforming title.

The musical and colorful side scrolling adventure game by Singaporean developer Joysteak Studios will be out for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on July 25.
