Rainbow Six Siege's APAC South Mini Major Stage 2 concluded its grand finals and the results are out. The matches were online because of COVID-19. The event showed exciting matches with the grand-finals played in the best of five format. The strategies used by the players may work on your competitive games.
The matchup between MercenarieZ and Union Gaming was the best rematch anyone could ever ask for since Stage 1. The first map was Clubhouse - a defender-sided map with both Thatcher and Maverick banned. MrcZ employed a heavy roam strategy, which was the highlight for Clubhouse. The strategy involved three players of MrcZ roaming around the second floor with Mozzie, Vigil, and Lesion. That strategy almost worked, but UG was able to maintain their timing and man count, which allowed UG to win the round. The match almost went overtime. Still, UG won the final round in the last ten seconds. The reason: defenders were playing around the site to deny the plant and preventing the attackers from entering. UG took the first map with a 7-4 scoreline.
Both teams persistently fought every map until they reached the final map of the series, which was Oregon. MrcZ played insanely well on the attacking half of Oregon. An impressive feat considering the map is defender-sided. The first half went 4-2 in the favor of MrcZ and only needed another three rounds to win the majors. M4KER was able to get a quad kill in the basement round that allowed MrcZ to win the final round of the series. MrcZ won the final map with a 7-3 scoreline.
It was a pretty impressive match to watch as this game was very important for Union to take. But UG threw their only chance for qualifying for the six invitational, representing as the only team from the APAC South region.
