"Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater" is encountering problems on the PlayStation 5 Pro, according to latest reports, and this centers on performance issues on the supposed high-performance console from Sony.
Ironically, reports also claim that the game performs better on the base PlayStation 5 compared to the PS5 Pro.
'Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater' PS5 Pro Performance Issues
According to a new report by GameRant, a YouTube channel called Digital Foundry has revealed in their latest early hands-on review of Konami's "Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater" that it has performance issues on the PS5 Pro.
They claim that owners of the high-performance consoles would not be pleased with these issues as it experiences frame rate drops.
While it was revealed in tests that the standard PS5 also experiences frame rate drops, the rate average on the PS5 Pro is considerably lower than the base version with Performance Mode enabled.
In one specific jungle scene in the game, Digital Foundry compares both consoles' image output and found that the PS5 Pro only offers a resolution of 756p in contrast to the standard PS5's 864p output with quality mode set at 1412p. Digital Foundry also noted that while the PlayStation 5 Pro uses the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for upscaling, it still failed to "meet the clarity of the base PS5."
Alongside this, the channel noted that PSSR's attempt to denoise parts of the game led to more "flickering shading" on the PlayStation 5 Pro compared to this operation by the standard PS5.
'Metal Gear Solid Delta' Runs Better on Base PS5
While there are pros and cons on "Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's" performance on the PS5 Pro, Digital Foundry and GameRant claim that owners may be disappointed with its performance overall.
It was not revealed by the reports and reviews whether the issue is with the consoles or the game's development itself, but the game runs better on the base PS5.
The standard or base PS5 features a frame rate of 48 to 60 FPS in Performance Mode and 30 to 60 FPS in busy areas, averaging 7 frames per second more than the Pro console version.
It is worth noting that despite its better performance, "Metal Gear Solid Delta's" PS5 performance still faces issues but not as much as one would expect from the PS5 Pro.
That being said, GameRant noted that there is still time for Konami to fix this problem on "Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater" before it officially releases this August 28. This could be in the form of a day-one patch from Konami, but there is still no acknowledgment regarding it.
