PlayStation announced that for March, PS Plus is offering two games for free. The first is Shadow of the Colossus and the second is Sonic Forces. Both titles are going to be available for download starting March 3 all the way to April 6.
Sonic Forces
Sonic Forces was released in November 2017 in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. In the game, Dr. Eggman has managed to conquer most of the world with help from the mysterious Infinite. Players need to guide Sonic to build an army in order to return order to the world.
The game lets players choose from three playable characters. Two are different versions of Sonic, which are the Classic and Modern iterations of the character. Each offers a different set of abilities. Classic Sonic, for instance, is limited to side-scrolling gameplay and can do a spin dash on the ground along with a drop dash while in mid-air to gain speed. Modern Sonic, meanwhile, can double jump, use grappling hooks, and even perform homing attach on enemies. The third character is a custom character that players can create.
Shadow of the Colossus
First released in 2005, Shadow of the Colossus has undergone a lot of changes. In 2011, a remastered version was released for the PlayStation 3. Then in February 2018, a high-definition remake was released for the PlayStation 4.
The game focuses on a character named Wander who must travel across a forbidden land in order to defeat 16 massive beings known as colossi. Progression in the game happens in cycles. This means that players start at a central point, then go out to find and defeat a colossus. After that, they are returned to the central point and repeat the process.
Despite being considered an action-adventure game, what makes this one unique was that there are no towns to explore and no characters to interact with. In fact, there are no other enemies except the colossi. In addition, each colossus can't be killed by simply attacking them, so players need to find their weak points.
Shadow of the Colossus has been named as one the greatest video games of all time.
February Games
PlayStation reminded PS Plus members that there’s still time to get the free games offered in February. These are Bioshock: The Collection, Sims 4, and Firewall Zero Hour. The three titles can be downloaded until March 2.
