Hyeon “Effect” Hwang, a star player of Overwatch League team Dallas Fuel, has been suspended from ranked play until Sunday. After losing a few games in a row, Effect might have been a bit tilted and caused him to remote one of his teammates, Nut, a Symmetra one-trick. Before the game even started, Effect had reported the player, which goes against the game’s terms and conditions causing his suspension. The ban won’t affect his Overwatch League performance and he seems to be learning from the whole ordeal.

Posted by reddit user Ambler3isme, Effect seemed to have issued an apology about banning Nut. "Of course, since I'm a pro, there's no reason for me to play Symmetra in comp,” Effect’s mods translated. “I agree that it was my fault to curse out the Symmetra. I won’t curse out one tricks anymore. It was my fault. I am reflecting now. So I don't have to meet Sym one tricks. I shall be good friends with Nut!"

Effect has had a rough time with one-trick players recently, who he feels make it difficult to climb since they can’t play anything but their one champion or hero. On stream, he sent an open letter to Game Director Jeff Kaplan, who responded in the clip’s reddit post.

“I don't have immediate solutions to your problem that don't drastically change the face of Overwatch,” Kaplan writes. “But I do want you to know that we care and that we are very engaged in brainstorming solutions.”

Players with lackluster champion pools have always been a problem in high-ranking esports. I can’t tell you how many Yasuo mains I’ve lost games with in League Of Legends. It’s difficult to fully solve the problem since game designer’s don’t want to limit the creativity of their game, but also want ranked to be a place for serious competition. If you can’t play a tank or DPS when your team desperately needs you to, you’re immediately put at a detriment before the game even starts.

It looks like Effect is taking the ban well, streaming rhythm game Osu! To keep his hand movements sharp and up to date. He did have a little fun with Overwatch after his ban, finally succumbing to the madness that is Symmetra.
