In the same fashion of Fallout: New Vegas, upcoming 2020 open-world RPG The Outer Worlds will have two main endings and will inform the player of the consequences of their choices through a series of slides.

In an interview between co-director and co-creator of Fallout, Leonard Boyarsky, and VGC, Boyarsky said that the two basic paths depend on whether you sided with Phineas or The Board. He also said that he hasn’t totaled the number of all possible combinations for the two main endings, but that “there are quite a lot of variations”. As for how the ending work, he said that “they talk about the different people that you encountered, the different areas that you entered, how you solved certain quests and what that means for the future of the colony."

Developer Obsidian confirmed that they will acknowledge the player’s choices made during side quests. However, whether this will have a considerable impact on one’s play through or ending is still in question. It also remains to be seen how impactful the variations on different endings will be; it’s worth noting that Obsidian’s most popular title, Fallout: New Vegas, was quite extensive when it came to the choices you made in the game.

The Outer Worlds is a first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division. The story revolves around Halcyon: a corporate-owned colony on the edge of the galaxy. It is owned and operated by the ominous “The Board”. Players are dropped in the midst of a conspiracy threatening to destroy the colony. The choices made, the people encountered, and how you treat them, will decide how the story unfolds and what the future of the colony will be.

Similar to Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds affords players the option to customize their character’s skills and abilities and make their own decisions based on conversation options. New elements added include a Flaw system wherein the game recognizes your weakness and gives you an equivalent debuff, but rewards you with an unconditional perk immediately.

The Outer Worlds is set to release on October on October 25, 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
