Need for Speed Payback finally receives its first update on Tuesday, Dec. 19. The Speedcross update brings several new features to the game, including some new cars, new customization options, a new game mode, and a new Speedlist.

New vehicles come to Fortune Valley in the form of Abandoned Cars that are waiting to be discovered. The vehicles include the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R, Volvo 242DL, Volvo Amazon P130, Plymouth Barracuda, Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R and the BMW M3 Evolution II E30. Once the vehicles have been discovered on the map, they will also be available for purchase from the dealership. According to EA, the first car will be the RX-7 while the rest are slated to arrive in the coming weeks. Happy hunting.

The update is slated to offer BMW owners more customization options as well. A slew of official M Performance aero will be available to BMWs across the range, including the BMW M2, M4 GTS, M5, and X6M.

The Speedcross Competition is a new off-road event in Fortune Valley and Rav has built Mac a special Mini John Cooper Works Countryman for the occasion. The new competition features preset courses in 16 locations that judge the racer's skill in Drift, Jumps, Speedtraps, and Smackables.

Driving precision and technicality are the names of the game in Speedcross. The events will feature Canyon, Airfield, Construction and Ember Valley terrain. Vehicles that join the Mini Cooper Countryman include the new Infiniti Q60 S, as well as the available Nissan 350Z, Ford Focus RS and Dodge Charger.

Next, EA adds Drift Run to Speedlists. The online multiplayer competition will feature Drift Trial events based on challenges from the singleplayer campaign. The event is open to up to eight players at a time, with point multipliers available to driving that are placed ahead.

Last but not least, the Need for Speed Payback update now features steering wheel support for the Logitech G29 (PS4) and Logitech G920 (Windows & Xbox).
