New Game Set in the Stellaris Universe Coming to Early Access This Year

The definition of a quick game. Paradox Interactive

Paradox Interactive has partnered with Whatboy Games to release a new turn-based 4X social strategy game set in the Stellaris universe. Stellaris Nexus is designed for quick gaming in around one hour and lets players play with friends to explore the universe, forge alliances, or possibly conquer the galaxy. An early access launch is expected sometime this year.

The story follows the fall of the Tzynn Empire when the seat of all galactic power called the Nexus has been left empty. In the game, players get to influence the galaxy by releasing Edicts with the end-goal of ascending to the throne and ruling the empire. To take control of planets, they can use peaceful diplomatic annexation or military might. They'll also need to construct buildings to ensure resources for continued expansion.

Here are some key features of Stellaris Nexus:

  • Your Hour of Power
    • From the haven of their Homeworld, players can rapidly expand their reach across the galaxy to explore and occupy new star systems and take control of the galactic throne world that is the Nexus.
    • Construct a large military star fleet and develop diplomatic cunning to exploit the opportunities available to grow the empire and exert dominance in the new galactic order.
    • Research new technologies, confront the scientific enigmas of deep space, and subdue the threats of other spacefaring races.
      • Forge a powerful interstellar empire and be crowned the undisputed emperor of the galaxy.
  • Social Strategy
    • Choose a unique faction and leader and get to play with up to 5 friends in turn-based multiplayer.
      • Test your skills and go online against strangers through skill-based matchmaking.
    • Negotiate and form diplomatic alliances with other empires to avoid direct confrontation.
      • Sabotage their agenda using covert espionage plots and blame it on another player.
    • Limitless opportunities are available for bluffing, subterfuge, double-crossing, back-stabbing, petty revenge, and all other forms of diplomatic intrigue.
      • These can transform even best friends into worst enemies.
  • Craft a Unique Story within the Stellaris Universe
    • Players can redefine the course of galactic lore with every playthrough as they inhabit well-established Stellaris factions and leaders.
      • Destiny is in their hands as they craft their own emergent narrative in pursuit of galactic glory and domination.
    • Military conflict and diplomatic dealings are always available.
      • There is also the power struggle playing out in the Galactic Council as rival empires exert their legislative influence to cast votes in favor of new titles and resolutions to empower their faction or advance their immediate strategic objectives.

A free demo of Stellaris Nexus will be available at the Steam Next Fest on June 19. Wishlist the game on Steam now.
