MTG Arena Launches Brawl Event This Thursday

Magic the Gathering: Arena announced that Constructed Brawl is officially going to be added to the game beginning October 24. To celebrate this new addition, Wizards of the Coast is hosting a week-long Brawl event where players can win a copy of five rare cards along with their respective card styles. While rewards can only be earned once, players may continue playing beyond five wins.

For those who managed to get a chance to be part of the Courtside Brawl back in September, this is pretty much the same format. This means players can use a deck that has been built around a specific Planeswalker or legendary creature using the Standard card pool. This time around however, players now choose the legendary creature or Planeswalker.

After the Brawl launch event, MTG Arena is going to have a Brawl play queue each Wednesday beginning on November 6 at 11:00 AM. The option will be available for 24 hours. Like many of the other Standard play queues, this one needs no entry fee to join, though it also doesn't give additional rewards. The games do give quest progress and contribute to any daily or weekly counts.

Throne of Eldraine

While Throne of Eldraine is already available in MTG, it has yet to arrive in MTG Arena. Before that, a Festival of the Fae event series is going to be hosted beginning in November. Each event is going to have a 2,500 gold or 500 gem entry fee and features these formats:

  • Artisan: Build a Standard deck using commons and uncommons only.
  • Oko's Madness: It's like Momir's Madness, but your creatures are also 3/3 Elk.
  • Cascade: When you cast your first spell each turn, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card that costs less. You may cast it without paying its mana cost.

Daily Wins

WotC also announced that Daily Win Rewards are going to offer an additional 25 XP. However, this is only good for the first ten wins of each day. The goal is help players catch up with their leveling, especially if they don't finish weekly wins or miss out on a few quests.

Brawl, Throne of Eldraine showcase cards, and the new events are set to arrive October 24, along with some quality-of-life changes, bug fixes, and continued work on performance improvements.
