The case of Epic Games vs. Apple is slowly coming to an end following last week's ruling, and the next step for the gaming company is for "Fortnite" to make its grand return to iOS in the United States this week.

'Fortnite's' US Return to iOS Targeted for This Week

Tim Sweeney has counted the exact timeline since Apple kicked "Fortnite" off the App Store and its iOS platform because of leveraging a third-party payment platform to avoid the massive 30% commission.

But after four years, four months, and 17 days, Sweeney and Epic Games came out victorious in their lawsuit against Apple, which also blew open third-party payment platforms for companies wanting to offer them.

With this win, Sweeney not only helped the industry, but also fulfilled his promise to fans and gamers regarding "Fortnite's" return to iOS in the US, which he and Epic Games are targeting for this week.

However, there are still several hiccups that Epic and Sweeney are still fixing in order for this to take place before the week ends because it was not possible for Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6.

In another update, Sweeney announced that the battle royale game's return to iPhones and the App Store is also not yet happening this Wednesday, May 7, and this gives Epic Games a limited timeline for its release.

That being said, there are no further updates yet from Sweeney as of press time if the company's targeted timeline can actually become a reality. As May 8 or 9 have yet to be ruled out by Sweeney, the possibility remains that the return could happen on any of these dates.

Epic Still Faces Apple App Store Issues?

Sweeney is known for being vocal against Apple and their previous actions against Epic Games to prevent "Fortnite's" return to the App Store despite the law no longer preventing them from doing so. That said, Sweeney made no mention of Apple actively trying to block their app submission on the App Store to prevent the game's return, and in this case, causing the delay.

Sweeney said that the team is still working on the update for the game's return to the App Store, but no further information was shared by the CEO.

According to 9to5Mac, Epic Games is currently using their EU developer account to reintroduce their games to iOS, and their submission process is not yet done.

For now, fans and gamers would have to wait for "Fortnite" to go live on the App Store or any other announcement from Sweeney regarding its timeline.
