Minecraft: Trails & Tails Update Introduces Armor Trims

Trails & Tails Update Mojang Studios

Mojang Studios released a massive new update for Minecraft called Trails & Tails. One of the most notable things introduced in this patch is the Armor Trim, a new feature that lets you turn your dull and boring-looking equipment into shiny armor pieces.

Before you can use Armor Trims though, you have to find some Armor Trim Smithing Templates in these locations:

  • Trail Ruins: Wayfinder, Raiser, Shaper, and Host Armor Trims
  • Pillager Outpost: Sentry Armor Trim
  • Desert Pyramid: Dune Armor Trim
  • Shipwreck: Coast Armor Trim
  • Jungle Temple: Wild Armor Trim
  • Ocean Monument: Tide Armor Trim
  • Ancient City: Ward and Silence Armor Trims
  • Woodland Mansion: Vex Armor Trim
  • Nether Fortress: Rib Armor Trim
  • Bastion Remnant: Snout Armor Trim
  • Stronghold: Eye Armor Trim
  • End City: Spire Armor Trim

Most Armor Trim Smithing Templates are found inside treasure chests, except for the ones in the Trail Ruins and Ocean Monument. In the Trail Ruins, you must find some Suspicious Gravel and slowly brush them to reveal Wayfinder, Raiser, Shaper, and Host smithing templates.

On the other hand, smithing templates in the Ocean Monument can sometimes be dropped by Elder Guardians. Take note that the Elder Guardians only drop them occasionally, so you may have to defeat them several times to get the templates.

How to Use Armor Trims

Once you have the templates, head to the Smithing Table to begin. Here, you need to place three items: the Armor Trim Smithing Template, the piece of gear you want to put the armor trim on, and the ingredient that defines the color of your armor piece, such as Iron, Copper, Gold, Lapis, Emerald, Diamond, Netherite, Redstone, Amethyst, or Quartz. Press the confirm button, and voila! Enjoy your new cool-looking armor!
