The Nintendo Switch exclusive title Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is only a few days old, but that’s not going to prevent Nintendo and Marvel from coming up with additional content right out of the gate. At San Diego Comic Con, Marvel already announced plans of a DLC that will add a number of characters from the beloved media franchise to the game, starting with the god of mischief and brother of Thor, Loki.

In fact, Marvel’s expansion plans have already begun, as in a surprise little twist, Loki has been included in the list of playable characters for Ultimate Alliance 3. Loki’s inclusion is free of charge and is a release day surprise for fans of Ultimate Alliance 3. According to Comicbook.com, Loki’s gameplay consists of his ability to send out clones of himself and attacks using ice blasts and tornadoes.

Loki’s appearance will be followed by two other iconic characters, this time from the X-Men collection of heroes. Cyclops and Colossus will be available by August 30, followed by a bunch of alternate costumes for everyone currently in the roster. Besides this, expect the more mature-aimed characters of Marvel to also make their appearance, as a Marvel Knights pack is also announced as one of the expansions. This pack will include Blade, Moon Knight, Punisher, and Morbius.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is a superhero action game developed by Team Ninja and published by Nintendo. Its plot takes inspiration from recent projects in the Marvel Universe such as box-office hits The Avengers: Infinity War and the record-breaking The Avengers: Endgame although story-wise, it takes after the 1991 comic book storyline The Infinity Gauntlet so as to reflect the wider cast of characters you will be able to play in-game. Ultimate Alliance 3 can either be played solo or in co-op mode with up to four players, either split screen on the same Nintendo Switch, or online with friends or random player lobbies.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is currently out for the Nintendo Switch on the eShop for $59.99. For those looking for additional content, a $19.99 Ultimate Alliance 3 expansion pass is available, which includes three DLC packs, new story content and characters from Marvel Knights, X-Men, and the Fantastic Four.
