The big day is almost here.
The big day is almost here. Niantic

It looks like it’s all systems go as Pokémon Go’s biggest annual event is just a month away. That’s right, the Pokémon Go Fest 2020 is coming to Trainers worldwide on July 25 and 26. There’s going to be some changes that many are going to love. For one, the event is going to be purely online instead of in-person like previous years. In addition, Trainers are going to be able to attend on both days and not just on one.

Each day of the event is set to provide Trainers with a unique experience. As mentioned, Trainers can take part in both days of Fest 2020. That’s not all, as everyone can participate in both days with only a single ticket.

Day 1 is on July 25 which runs from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, both local time. On this day, Trainers get access to Special Research that is only available for this day.

During the first day, there’s going to be five rotating habitats which are going to be themed around fire, water, grass, battle, and friendship. Each habitat is going to rotate every hour, which means they’re going to be featured twice on the first day. There’s also going to be a special Pokémon around that match with the theme of the habitat.

While Trainers can take part in some activities during Day 1, there is also the Global Challenge Arena that’s only available to Trainers that have a ticket. For this event, Trainers get the chance to work together with other Trainers to finish collaborative challenges, which happen every hour. Those who do manage to complete a challenge get to earn a bonus.

Additionally, on the first day of Fest 2020 more than 75 species of Pokémon are going to be available for Trainers to encounter. This can happen either in the wild, in raids, or even by finishing Special Research tasks.

So what’s going to happen in Day 2? Well, that’s going to be a surprise, for now. According to the Pokémon Go team, ticket holders are only going to be able to learn about all the included activities on the day itself. Hopefully that should be worth the wait.

It’s not all virtual as everyone has the chance to order a commemorative Pokémon Go Fest 2020 T-shirt. Those interested can order and purchase the T-shirt here. Another feature is that there’s going to be printable paper crafts that can be downloaded for free. Hopefully this can make Trainers spice up their house during Fest 2020.

Tickets to the event are already available at the in-app shop for $14.99 and are nonrefundable. This same ticket cannot be purchased using PokéCoins. Here’s how you can get a ticket:

  • Go to the shop.
  • Tap the Pokémon Go Fest 2020 image.
  • Tap the Buy button.
  • There should be a pop-up saying you’ve received the ticket.
  • Once you tap OK, the ticket should be in the Item Bag.

Trainers who have the ticket receive a medal a few days before the event. Trainers who open their app on Day 1 get to immediately access the Pokémon Go Fest 2020 experience. This includes the first Special Research story. Those who manage to get their Special Research objectives can complete them at any time.

So what are your thoughts? Excited for this one?
